Mehron has been synonymous with the theatre for 85 years. Theatre is in our roots and in our blood. So we were very happy to take part in the Georgia Thespian Conference at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center last weekend. This incredible event, which is the second largest student thespian conference in the country, drew in over 4,000 participants from 160 high schools across the state of Georgia. There were workshops in drama and the arts, college auditions and scholarships. But of course no teenage theatrical conference would be complete without the makeup that helps these young artists shine. That's where Mehron came in - and made the front page of the Ledger-Enquirer.
The Mehron Booth at the GA Thespian Conference Was Bustling
Our own Jason Coleman (himself the winner of an Outstanding Makeup Design award) made sure the Mehron booth provided students with an exciting, interactive education in theatrical makeup. There were non-stop demos; a vividly engaging slide show of work from Jason and renowned body artists Jinny Houle and Mark Reid; and individual, 15-minute one-on-one appointments. Once the students saw the artwork that they could have the opportunity to have demonstrated to them - or better yet ON them - Jason's appointments completely filled up. The crowd at the Mehron booth didn't die down until closing. There was actually a line of people waiting and hoping to take the appointments of no-shows! The booth was so busy that Max Currie from Norcostco - one of our distributors - rolled up his sleeves and began applying makeup as well. The students were so excited to learn the art of makeup application, new techniques, and product uses."The whole experience was amazing," says Jason. "To see the look in these kids eyes . . . the appreciation in the directors' faces, the look of bewilderment from neighboring vendors. It was as if Mehron was the show."
Some lucky students won Mehron's new MINI PRO Student Makeup Kits, which we recently updated and launched together with the help of our theatre experts. This kit has EVERYTHING student performers need, including versatile colors and accent shades that can be used on the eyes, cheeks and lips. They are available in Fair/Olive Fair, Medium/Olive Medium, and Medium Dark/Dark. To purchase visit www.Mehron.com.
